Recent studies show that the vast majority of people in developed countries, namely 95%, finish their day with an electronic device such as a computer, tablet, smartphone, etc. Still a medical, statistics highlight a general problem for Europe's population - 63% of the population have sleep disturbances. Do you think there is a link between these two estimates? In fact, from all the complexity of factors that influence sleep, we will highlight the influence of light on natural biorhythms of person.
There are a set of factors that create the circadian rhythm (daily) or sleep-wake cycle. It seems that this rhythm is influenced by chemical reactions at the level of brain neurons. There is also a center of neurons that play an obvious role in controlling the sleep cycle. This "clock" is close to the point where the optical nerves intersect, so the sleep sensation depends on the intensity of the light, the strong light awakens you, and the darkness instills you in. First, being attached to the sunlight, people get up and sleep with the artificial sunlight allowing the day to "lengthen", but also has an unfavorable influence on the aforementioned circadian rhythm. This influence has become even more evident with the appearance of digital cameras, especially since the light emitted by the monitor differs from the natural light. There is much discussions about the so-called Blue Waves, which in themselves cannot be defined as bad, only stimulate attention, raise working capacity and revitalize, but at the same time, these waves block the synthesis of melanin, the sleeping hormone, at epiphysis level, and this is precisely what is not desirable before going to bed!
What to do?! To finish the technical achievements of civilization may be an unsuccessful idea. In this situation, the most optimal solution is to stop the blue waves by wearing glasses fitted with special lenses. This balances the synthesis process of melanin, which can restore the quality of sleep to normal. The latest development, BLUE CUT technology (Blue Filter), allows the blocking of HEV and UV from 95% to 100%. This is a remarkable achievement, because we are unlikely to reduce the use of computerized technologies, but we can protect our eyes and health! Another "fresh" solution is proposed by Apple: it is an iOS 9.3 operating system with the night mode, which automatically changes the spectral composition of the device light in the evening. However, locally, goggles would probably be more acceptable. As such, it would be recommended to use computer glasses not only at night, but all the time you are in front of the monitor.
